His Highness the Prince of the Qassim Region patronizes the closing ceremony of the University Festival “People’s Heritage”
His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Qassim region, sponsored the closing ceremony of the “People’s Heritage Festival,” organized by the university, with the participation of international students at the university who represent more than 90 nationalities, in the presence of His Excellency Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al-Daoud, President of the University. And the Undersecretary of the Emirate of the Qassim Region, Dr. Abdullah Al-Saqr, His Excellency the representatives and members of the University Council, and the directors of government agencies, at the Qassim International Convention and Exhibition Center in Buraidah.
For his part, His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Qassim Region, said: I congratulate the distinguished Qassim University, the President, Vice Deans, Deans, and University Council, on the idea of this international festival, its great success, and achieving the Kingdom’s goals to be an incubator for all global civilizations and cultures.
His Highness added: This festival and the gathering of more than 90 nationalities of scholarship students at Qassim University sends a message to the world that our faith and our sacred country embraces all peoples without exception and dedicates coexistence and brotherhood with all the peoples of the world.
His Highness the Emir of the Qassim region toured the participating corners, which include a pavilion for the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, the Saudi pavilion, the Qassim University pavilion, the corner of the Ministry of Education represented by the General Administration for Scholarships for Non-Saudi Students, and the exhibition of educational tools in Saudi Arabia from the first to the third Saudi state. In addition to the participation of many international students from various countries, they present many events, exhibitions, competitions, and performances, which present the most prominent cultural features and heritage legacies of the countries, such as clothes, antiques, popular foods, and their own handmade and industrial textiles, in addition to pictures, information, and historical and natural landmarks for each country. As well as folklore shows, handicrafts, and other rarities specific to each country.
His Highness witnessed the closing ceremony of the festival, which included two introductory films about the university’s efforts for international students, and their feelings on the occasion of this festival. He also listened to the speech of the international students, during which they expressed their thanks and appreciation for the Kingdom that allowed them to study and provided support and attention to international students to spread science and knowledge.
In addition, the general supervisor of the festival, Dean of the Deanship of Student Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Ajlan, confirmed that the university worked to attract a number of international students and provided them with a stimulating educational, cultural and social environment in a way that strengthens their belonging to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, indicating that the festival reflects one of the dimensions of the university’s vision. It is an effective national and global partnership, and it also reflects its mission to enhance national development and the values of belonging and justice, represented by focusing on peaceful coexistence among peoples.
Al-Ajlan explained that the festival also reflects the extent of openness to diversity and coexistence in the Kingdom, and enhances the university’s educational role, which is to hone students’ skills and develop their abilities. This festival presented many historical and review programs of the cultural achievements of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Highness, the Emir of the Qassim Region, honored distinguished international students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, in addition to distinguished students in student activities.
His Highness also inaugurated the second edition of the Award of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of the Qassim Region, for memorizing the Holy Quran at Qassim University.
The university holds this festival with the aim of enriching cultural and civilizational diversity and learning closely about the customs and heritage of peoples through its international students, whose number exceeds more than 5,000 international students, as it comes within a series of community programs and events that the university holds annually.
This year, the festival witnessed the participation of 1,200 participants, more than 900 international students, and the number of visitors exceeded 42,000 visitors to the festival, which lasted for six days.
