The department of Mathematics was established in 1418 AH coinciding with the establishment of the College of Science in Qassim University. The department has developed rapidly over the past few years, with the increase in faculty members and number of students. The department provides mathematics courses to students in the Mathematics Department and to all students in other departments across the university's colleges. Recently, the department has introduced specialized programs, such as the Bachelor of Science in Actuarial and financial Mathematics and the Master of Science in Applied Mathematics. Thus, the department now includes two Bachelor of Science programs in in Mathematics and Actuarial and financial Mathematics programs, and two Master of Science programs in Pure and Applied Mathematics. The department also has several administrative and academic committees, including the Quality and Academic Accreditation Committee and the Curriculum Committee, which are concerned with continuous improvement procedures, academic accreditation, and program development and development. The bachelor’s program in Mathematics and Master's program in Pure Mathematics have received full programmatic accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA). The department also provides statistical advice for applied research projects both within and outside the college, whether in the research design phase or during data analysis and interpretation of results. Furthermore, the department makes a distinguished contribution to research through the publication of distinguished scientific research by its members in prestigious scientific journals. This has led to progress in the classification of specializations and their competition with international programs. Mathematics was included among the top 300 specializations globally in the Shanghai World Ranking for 2024.
