About SRIU
Scientific Research and Innovation Unit (SRIU) is a part of an administrative unit in Qassim Engineering College (QEC) established in the year 2020 for coordinating the research and innovation in QEC to achieve high quality research standards at local and international levels. The purpose of the unit is to empower students and faculty in scientific research and innovation in alignment with the strategies of Qassim University and the Kingdom Vision 2030. SRIU sets the QEC research properties, orients the researchers and students to the high priority areas of research and highlights the opportunities for funding and financial support. SRIU organizes conferences, seminars, and workshops to improve the quality of research work in QEC. SRIU provides all the necessary assistance and guidance to researchers to apply for internal or external funding and projects.
SRIU Objectives
1.    Setting the QEC research strategy in alignment with the strategies of Qassim University and Kingdom Vision 2030.
2.    Orient the researchers and students to the research priorities in QEC.
3.    Presenting all national and international calls for funded research projects.
4.    Providing all possible assistance and guidance to researchers and students to apply for new calls and to complete and close running projects.
5.    Presenting QEC statistics related to research and innovation.
6.    Coordinate conferences, seminars, and workshops that strengthen the skills and capabilities of researchers and students to attain high quality research outcomes.
SRIU Duties
1.    Developing a strategic plan for scientific research and innovation in QEC aligned with the strategies of Qassim University and Kingdom Vision 2030.
2.    Determining the research priorities for scientific research in QEC.
3.    Implementation of training and development programs for scientific research and innovation.
4.    Holding seminars and workshops for enhancement of scientific research and innovation.
5.    Establishing internal and external research partnerships.
6.    Creating a database for scientific research in QEC.
7.    Advising towards the available internal or external financial support for research and innovation.
8.    Contributing to scientific research and development in Qassim region and all over the Kingdom.
9.    Preparing an annual report on scientific research and innovation conducted in QEC.
10.    Achieving all requirements of scientific research and innovation at the university.

1.    Infrastructure Sustainability and Environmental Protection
Including but not limited to structural, transportation, water resources, construction, environmental engineering, and desalination.
2.    Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology
Including but not limited to material design and processing, advanced manufacturing and engineering materials, production and characterization, and sensors and devices.
3.    Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Including but not limited to system control, power systems operation and planning, application of power electronics, climate change, wind energy, and waste-to-energy.
4.    Smart cities and Artificial Intelligence
Including but not limited to IOT, sensors and electronic systems, communication systems, intelligent transportation, robotics, and vehicle dynamics.
